English Video Magazine Launched at Gossner College, Ranchi

The Department of Mass Communication and Video Production at Gossner College launched its Annual English Video Magazine during a formal ceremony on campus. Prof. In-Charge Prof. Elani Purti officially unveiled the magazine in the presence of faculty members and students.

The English Video Magazine serves as a creative record of important events organisedby the college. Moreover, it documents academic programs, co-curricular activities, seminars, workshops, and departmental initiatives conducted over the past six months. This edition mainly covers activities from July to December.


Importance of Documentation and Improvement

While addressing the gathering, Prof. In-Charge Prof. Elani Purti emphasised the importance of systematic documentation. She stated that the video magazine provides a proper record of college events. Furthermore, she explained that reviewing these recordings helps the institution identify areas of improvement.

According to her, documentation not only preserves memories but also strengthens future planning. As a result, departments can organise better and more impactful programs in the coming months.


Enhancing Communication Through Media

Course Coordinator Prof. Asha Rani Kerketta also highlighted the role of the video magazine in communication. She said that the English Video Magazine helps showcase college activities to a wider audience. Additionally, it allows students to gain practical experience in video production, editing, scripting, and presentation.

She further mentioned that the department releases the video magazine every six months. Therefore, students get continuous opportunities to work on real media projects.

Prof. Santosh Kumar, Head of the English Department, Prof. Eva Margaret Hansda, Prof. Anuj Kumar, and several students attended the event. The successful launch of the English Video Magazine reflects the department’s commitment to practical learning and creative media education.

Gossner Cine Fest 5.0 – Open for Submissions

Gossner Cine Fest 5.0 is the flagship student film festival organised by the Department of Mass Communication and Video Production at Gossner College, Ranchi. The festival will be held from 9th to 11th April 2026 and aims to promote independent filmmaking, student cinema, and regional storytelling.

The festival invites submissions in categories such as short films, documentaries, and student projects. Selected films will be screened before a live audience, followed by interactive sessions and expert feedback. Media professionals and guest speakers will also participate in panel discussions and workshops.
