A meaningful Gossner College Women’s Cell program was organized at St. Michael Blind School to mark International Women’s Day. The event highlighted compassion, empowerment, and inner strength. It brought together faculty members, students, and school participants in a heartfelt celebration.
The program began with an opening prayer led by Prof. Divya Rani Kongadi. Subsequently, Prof. Isaac Kundlna and his group presented a devotional hymn praising the Almighty. The spiritual atmosphere set a reflective tone for the entire gathering.
Inspiring Message on Inner Strength
Dr. Bindu Soreng delivered the Bible reading and shared an inspiring message. She emphasized that true light does not come from the eyes but from the heart. Moreover, she encouraged the students by saying they are special and created with a unique purpose. Her words deeply resonated with the audience and uplifted the spirits of the visually impaired students.
Significance of Women’s Day
Dr. Jyoti Toppo, President of the Women’s Cell, spoke about the importance of International Women’s Day. She explained that women’s struggle for equality began during the French and Industrial Revolutions. Furthermore, she highlighted that the United Nations officially recognized March 8 as International Women’s Day in 1975.
Cultural Performances and Participation
Students from the English Department, including Valisa, Alisha, Shivangi, Sanskriti, and Kriti, presented a special song. Additionally, they shared inspiring educational stories. Meanwhile, students from St. Michael Blind School also delivered captivating musical performances, showcasing their talent and confidence.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Eva Hansdak, Secretary of the Women’s Cell. Several dignitaries, including Principal Sarita Talan and senior faculty members, were present.
This Gossner College Women’s Cell program successfully promoted inclusivity, inspiration, and the power of inner light.
