Gossner College Organizes Drug Awareness Program in Collaboration with DLSA

Ranchi:

Gossner College, Ranchi, in association with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), hosted a one-day awareness program on “Drug-Free India” at the college auditorium. The event was organized under the NALSA campaign titled “DON – Drug Awareness and Welfare Guidance – Plan for a Drug-Free India 2025.”

🎙️ Session Inauguration and Welcome Address

The session began with a welcome speech by Assistant Professor Mahima Golden Bilung from the Department of Mass Communication. She stressed the importance of educating today’s youth about the dangers of drug abuse and the need for vigilance in society.

  • Rajesh Kumar Sinha from DLSA

  • Rakesh Bharti and Rahul Meena (Intelligence Officers, Narcotics Control Bureau)

  • Rizwan Ansari (Sub-Inspector, CID)

  • Atul Gera and Kumari Verma from Live Saver

  • Sampa Das Bharti Shahdev from DLSA

  • Ram Ganesh Mandal (Assistant Sub-Inspector, Lower Police Station)

They provided insights on legal, health, and enforcement aspects of the anti-drug movement.


⚠️ Drug Impact and Community Responsibility

Atul Gera discussed the harmful effects of drugs and explained how communities should report dealers and peddlers. He emphasized that reporting such activities can help protect the nation’s future.

Aarti Verma, former member of Ramgarh’s Child Welfare Committee, inspired students to choose a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.


🛡️ Law Enforcement Perspectives

CID Sub-Inspector Rizwan Ansari spoke about the agency’s operations using real-life examples. He advised students to avoid even small-scale substance use and warned against accepting unknown parcels.

Rakesh Bharti from the Narcotics Control Bureau shared details about different types of drugs. He urged students to use the 1933 helpline number to report drug-related activity. He also reassured that informants’ identities are kept confidential.


🎓 Student Engagement and Oath

Over 350 students from BBA, BCA, IT, Biotechnology, and Mass Communication departments participated in the session. At the end of the program, everyone took a pledge to contribute to a drug-free India.
