The Department of Mass Communication and Video Production at Gossner College organized an insightful session on the importance of dialogue in films during the fifth day of the Video Editing Cine Fest 5.0 workshop. The session aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of how sound design influences cinematic storytelling.
Prof. Tej Mundu addressed the students and emphasized that sound plays a decisive role in the success of a film. He explained that strong dialogue delivery creates emotional impact and connects audiences with the story. Moreover, he stated that effective sound design often encourages viewers to visit cinema halls and engage deeply with the film experience.
He further demonstrated how editors synchronize dialogue with visuals during post-production. In addition, he explained the technical use of high sound and low sound in films. According to him, balanced sound levels enhance clarity and improve the overall cinematic effect. He also highlighted that improper sound mixing can reduce the impact of even the strongest scenes.
Technical Training on Video Enhancement
Meanwhile, Prof. Shahbaz Alam conducted a practical session on video editing and enhancement techniques. He explained technical elements such as definition, brightness, lumetri, vibration, contrast, and highlights.
Furthermore, he demonstrated how adjusting brightness and contrast improves visual tone and sharpness. He also introduced students to Lumetri tools used in professional color grading. These tools help maintain visual consistency and enhance storytelling.
The combined sessions provided students with hands-on experience in both audio and visual editing techniques. As a result, participants gained deeper insight into professional filmmaking practices under the Cine Fest 5.0 workshop initiative.
