Strengthening Indo–US Educational and Cultural Ties
Ranchi, July 28 — More than 30 exchange programs are currently active between India and the United States, focusing on various sectors. These include India-related business, international coordination, diplomacy, global security, stability, and cross-cultural understanding.
Sananda Mitra, Exchange and Alumni Coordinator at the U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata, shared this information during a student interaction session held at Gossner College, organized by the Department of Mass Communication and Video Production.
Empowering Students Through Global Exposure
Mitra emphasized the value of both short-term and long-term exchange programs. She explained that such opportunities allow students to experience different cultures, broaden their perspectives, and develop a deeper understanding of global dynamics.
“Exchange programs can transform lives. Whether it’s for a few weeks or several months, participants return with fresh perspectives, new skills, and meaningful experiences,” she said.
Spotlight on Global UGRAD Program
She especially highlighted the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)—a fully-funded U.S. government initiative for undergraduate students. It offers a chance to study in the U.S. for one semester while engaging in cultural exchange and academic growth.
