The Marang Gomke Documentary Film project by the Department of Mass Communication at Gossner College, Ranchi, has entered an important production stage. Students recently visited Takra village, the ancestral home of legendary tribal leader Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda, to film key locations connected to his life and legacy.
The student crew explored several historical places in the village. They filmed his birthplace, the school where he studied, and his memorial site. Through these visuals, the team aims to document the historical environment that shaped one of Jharkhand’s most influential leaders.
Students Document Historical Locations in Takra
The filmmaking team carefully recorded visuals of locations that played a major role in Jaipal Singh Munda’s early life. These places provide historical context for the documentary and help viewers understand his roots.
Moreover, the visit allowed students to interact with local residents and gather valuable insights about the village and its connection to Marang Gomke’s journey. These elements will strengthen the storytelling of the Marang Gomke Documentary Film.

Personal Interviews Add Depth to the Documentary
The team also conducted several interviews to capture personal perspectives about the tribal icon. Jayant Singh Munda, the son of Marang Gomke, shared memories and stories about his father’s life.
Additionally, Dr. Dhuni Soren, who travelled from England, spoke about the time he spent with Jaipal Singh Munda and explained how he supported and guided people around him. Rev. Hans also shared important details about Marang Gomke’s education and life journey.
These conversations will help present authentic voices and bring deeper understanding to the documentary.

Film Project Led by Gossner College Faculty and Students
The documentary aims to highlight lesser-known aspects of Marang Gomke’s life and introduce them to society. The project also intends to show his continued influence on modern society, especially among young people.

Anuj, Harsh, Kuldeep, and Manil handle cinematography. Roshan, Akash, Jeet, Amrit, and Anoop manage the editing work. Meanwhile, Prof. Tej Mundu leads the music direction.
