
The Gossner Cine Fest 5.0 inauguration marked a grand beginning of a three-day international film festival at Gossner College, Ranchi. Organized by the Department of Mass Communication and Video Production, the event brought together filmmakers, students, and industry experts on one platform.
The program began with a devotional prayer song by a Semester 4 student, creating a serene atmosphere. This was followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting by Chief Guest Bishop Simant Tirkey, along with Prof. Asha Rani Kerketta, Pradeep Toppo, Prof. Meena Sinha, and College representatives, officially inaugurating the fest.
Cultural Performances and Festival Vision
A vibrant dance performance by Ishika Pandit on South Indian songs energized the audience. Moreover, Prof. Anuj Kumar highlighted the growth of the festival, stating that it has evolved from a state-level event into an international platform. He emphasized that the fest offers emerging filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work and build careers.

Media, AI, and Responsibility
Bishop Simant Tirkey stressed the importance of media in national development. He noted that media connects people with global events and spreads awareness about government policies.
Meanwhile, Prof. Incharcge Prof. Elani Purti discussed the rising influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI). She urged students to critically verify information and use technology responsibly. Furthermore, she explained that AI is transforming sectors like education, healthcare, and media, while also presenting new challenges.

Panel Discussion on Cinema
A panel discussion on “International Cinema and Cinema of Jharkhand” featured Dr. B.P. Sinha, Biju Toppo, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Meena Sinha, and Prof. Anuj Kumar. The panel explored ways to take Jharkhand cinema to international audiences, especially low-budget regional films.
Film Screenings and Day 2 Lineup
The second day of the festival promises an exciting lineup. Chief Guest Sudeep Gudiya (MLA, Torpa) and special guest Bishop Right Rev. Pawal Lugun will attend the event. Additionally, filmmaker Purushottam Kumar, singer Nitish Kachhap, and Vivek Nayak will be present.
A special international cinema session will be conducted by Mary Girard (Florida), along with an academic session by Devashish Sen Gupta from Satyajit Ray Film Institute.
Day 2 Film Screenings include:
